Minister of Trade Says No Reason for Increases in Prices

The Sudan Minister of Trade, Hatim Al-Sir, said there were rapid increases in prices of goods at the time of the ratification of the 2018 budget, indicating that such increases are unjustifiable and have no reason.

 He said in a press statement at the Council of Ministers Thursday that all increases in prices of commodities have been based on rumors.
 The Minister said that the Ministry of Trade, in collaboration with the States would work for control and organize markets , saying we would not allow the current anarchy which hit markets.
 He said the Ministry is working to tighten the monitoring and following up the markets, indicating that the ministry would issue a regular bulletin containing the prices of basic commodities.
 The Minister of Trade explained that the basic goods have been exempted from fees, the VAT and custom duties in the 2018 budget therefore the increases in prices of such commodities are not acceptable.
