The Speaker of the Sudan National Assembly Prof. Ibrahim Ahmed Omer has underlined Sudan’s attention to peace and stability in the state of South Sudan.
This came while he met, at his office in parliament, with South Sudan’s Foreign Minister Barnaba Marial Benjamin and his accompanying delegation. He was briefed on the situation in South Sudan and the progress of the peace agreement recently signed with the opposition, led by Dr. Riek Machar, and the need to implement this so the people may enjoy security and stability.
The meeting showed the importance of full cooperation between the two countries, exchanging benefits as well as implementing security agreements between nations at the earliest opportunities. They also looked at stopping the harbouring of opposition movements to not impede smooth relations between the sides.
